Philly Hits Fewest Homicides Since 1966

Philadelphia recorded just 222 homicides in 2025, the lowest number in nearly 60 years, while poverty rates dropped below 20% for the first time since 1979.

The city is turning around some of its toughest challenges, even as it faces new economic headwinds.
