Rare Bigfin Squid Spotted Two Miles Deep Off California

Scientists aboard a research vessel got the surprise of their careers when a rare bigfin squid drifted into view nearly two miles beneath the Pacific Ocean.

It's the first time anyone has seen this ethereal creature alive in the northeastern Pacific.
