After years of climbing prices, starter homes are finally becoming more available in parts of America, with the South adding nearly 170,000 affordable listings since 2022.

While the income needed to buy has jumped to $78,000 from $43,000 since 2019, new construction focused on smaller homes is giving first-time buyers fresh hope in specific regions.
