Britain's greenhouse gas emissions dropped 2% in 2025, hitting their lowest level since the 1870s and marking more than half a century's worth of progress toward a cleaner future.

The nation achieved its first coal-free year in over 140 years while cutting total emissions to 367 million metric tons.
