VA Tests Weight-Loss Drug to Help Veterans Beat Alcohol Abuse

The Department of Veterans Affairs is launching a groundbreaking trial to test whether semaglutide, a drug already used for diabetes and weight loss, can help veterans overcome alcohol addiction.

More than 600 veterans at 18 medical centers will participate in the study that could unlock a new path to recovery for thousands struggling with substance abuse.
