WWII Victory Ship Honors Port Chicago Civil Rights Legacy

A historic World War II vessel is opening its doors for free this July to honor a pivotal moment in military civil rights history.

The Red Oak Victory will commemorate the 1944 Port Chicago disaster that changed how America's armed forces treated Black servicemembers.
