The accomplished All Whites defender has signed with his hometown club through the 2027-28 season, marking an emotional return to New Zealand after more than ten years of professional football abroad.

Tuiloma's journey reads like a footballer's dream. At just 18 years old, he joined French powerhouse Olympique de Marseille in 2013, launching a remarkable career that has seen him compete in over 200 professional matches across France and the United States. Along the way, he's earned 47 caps for New Zealand's national team, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the All Whites defense.

Now 30 and at the peak of his abilities, Tuiloma is bringing all that experience and skill back to where his heart has always been. The signing represents a perfect alignment of personal dreams and professional ambitions, as he aims to help Wellington Phoenix compete for silverware while positioning himself for selection in this year's FIFA World Cup.

"I'm excited to be in Wellington and I'm grateful for the opportunity the Phoenix have given me," Tuiloma shared, his enthusiasm palpable. "I'm ready to play, win games and help the team as much as I can on and off the pitch."

Their enthusiasm for Wellington helped seal the deal. "They were really on to me about wanting me to sign with the Phoenix," Tuiloma said with a smile.

Having arrived in the capital on Sunday and begun training with his new teammates on Tuesday, Tuiloma is already integrating into the squad. He'll wear the historic No. 28 shirt, becoming only the third player in club history to don that number.

While he must wait until the A-League's mid-season registration window opens on January 14 to make his official debut, the anticipation is building.
