Arizona Teen Drops 100 Points in Three Quarters
Adrian "Ace" Stubbs just shattered Arizona's high school single-game scoring record with 100 points in three quarters. The Maryvale High School star says his teammates and coaches made the historic night possible.
Adrian Stubbs walked off the court in Yuma after just three quarters, having already rewritten Arizona basketball history with 100 points in a single game.
The Maryvale High School junior broke the state's single-game scoring record, and he did it without playing the fourth quarter. "It means everything," Stubbs said. "All the hard work and time I put in to get to this point. It's a very surreal feeling."
The explosion started early. Stubbs dropped 35 points in the first quarter alone, prompting his coach to give him the green light to keep firing.
"I just pressed go mode," Stubbs explained. He estimates he could have reached 125 or even 130 points if he'd played the full game.
But numbers weren't what mattered most to the player his teammates call "Ace." When asked about the record, he immediately turned to the people who helped him get there.

"I live and die for these guys. They're everything," Stubbs said. "The reason I come to school and the reason I come to practice, they lift me up even when I'm down."
He shouted out coaches Smith, Bell, Walker, and Kenny for taking time to develop his skills. And he made sure to thank his mom, too.
The Ripple Effect
Head Coach Jeremy Smith sees Stubbs' achievement as bigger than basketball. He wants the record to shine a spotlight on their Phoenix community.
"Shout out to the Vale. Our community," Smith said. "We want to just bring positivity and light to our community. We're doing that through sports and the community we built here within our basketball team. And it's starting to spread. It's getting contagious."
The Maryvale community has rallied around their young star, celebrating not just his talent but his humility and dedication to his teammates. Smith believes their positive approach is creating momentum that extends beyond the court.
Stubbs' name is now cemented in Arizona basketball history, and his journey is just beginning.
