Riding motorcycles and carrying sophisticated weapons including bazookas, the attackers launched what appeared to be a calculated revenge mission after suffering significant losses in previous military encounters.

Major Zubair Babatunde, the Nigerian Army spokesperson in Kano, confirmed the intense gun battle that began late Thursday night and continued into Friday's early hours. The bandits, seeking retribution for earlier military defeats, were strategically positioned with over 50 motorcycles, each carrying three armed fighters prepared to penetrate local settlements.
