Sometimes life's greatest achievements come from the opportunities we never expected. Just ask Cam Little, the 22-year-old Jacksonville Jaguars kicker whose jersey now hangs proudly in the NFL's Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

In week nine of the 2025 season, Little stepped onto the field in Las Vegas and made history. With confidence and precision, he nailed a 68-yard field goal against the Raiders, breaking the NFL record that had stood since Justin Tucker's 66-yarder in 2021. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Little never intended to play football at all.

"I had no plans on playing football. I was a soccer player through and through," Little shares with warmth and humility. His football journey began with a simple invitation from a friend to attend practice. "I didn't even know how to put pads on. I didn't know what the rules of football were," he recalls with a laugh.

Little's path wasn't without its challenges. After getting tackled hard during his first varsity punt—when the snap sailed over his head—he was ready to walk away. "I told my dad I wanted to quit," he admits. But his father and coach saw something special in him and encouraged him to stick with it. That pivotal moment of support changed everything.

Taking their advice to heart, Little dedicated himself to studying the craft. He spent countless hours watching video of NFL kickers, including Tucker himself, absorbing every technique and detail. That dedication paid off spectacularly. After playing for Arkansas in college, he was drafted by the Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2024 draft.

"Good opportunity after good opportunity started hitting me," Little reflects. "I put myself in the right positions at the right time, took advantage of them when I needed to." His humility shines through, but so does his ambition: "I want to break every record this franchise has. I want to break every record the NFL has."

Little's success story mirrors the Jacksonville Jaguars' own remarkable turnaround. After winning just four games last season, the team brought in new leadership with head coach Liam Coen and former player Tony Boselli. The results have been spectacular—13 wins this season and an eight-game winning streak heading into the playoffs.

"Everyone's on the same page," Little explains about the team's chemistry. "When you combine front office, coaching staff, and team leaders, that forms success." In the final regular season game, Little made another historic kick—a 67-yarder—giving him the two longest field goals in NFL history.

As the Jaguars prepare for their playoff matchup against the Buffalo Bills, Little remains grounded and grateful. "This is the first time in my career that I've played post-season football," he says, clearly excited for what's ahead.

From a soccer player who didn't know how to put on football pads to an NFL record-holder at 22, Cam Little's journey reminds us that magic happens when we stay open to unexpected opportunities and surround ourselves with people who believe in us.
