The momentum reached a high point at the Shipper-Stakeholders' Committee Meeting held on December 16, 2025, where an impressive coalition of public and private sector leaders gathered at Ghana Shippers' House to chart a brighter future for the industry. The meeting brought together key government agencies including the Ghana Revenue Authority, National Security, Ghana Police Service, and the Food and Drugs Authority, alongside logistics giants like DHL, FedEx, and Swissport.

This powerful gathering reflects a shared commitment to making Ghana's shipping sector more competitive and user-friendly. Armed with the new Ghana Shippers' Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1122), the GSA is championing meaningful changes that will benefit businesses and traders across the nation.

Mrs. Monica Josiah, Head of the Shipper Services and Trade Facilitation Department, set an optimistic tone for the proceedings. "Today's meeting provides an important platform for us to reflect on our collective performance and work together to identify practical and sustainable solutions that will advance Ghana's shipping industry," she shared warmly.

One of the most celebrated achievements announced at the meeting was the successful abolition of illegitimate Airline Handling and Documentation Charges in the aviation sub-sector. This victory represents real savings for businesses and demonstrates the GSA's commitment to protecting shippers from unnecessary costs.

The Authority is also making significant strides in promoting fair pricing practices. By monitoring the Bank of Ghana's foreign exchange directives, the GSA ensures that shipping lines apply approved commercial bank rates, shielding businesses from volatile and arbitrary billing practices.

Looking ahead, excitement is building around the upcoming launch of the Boankra Inland Logistics Terminal, expected to commence operations in 2026. Mrs. Josiah described this state-of-the-art facility as "a game-changer for Ghana's trade logistics architecture," promising to revolutionize how goods move through the country.

The shipping sector is also embracing the government's forward-thinking 24-Hour Economy Initiative, with port operations now running round the clock. To support this expansion, the GSA has established a 24-hour helpline, ensuring continuous support for shippers and service providers whenever they need assistance.

Industry unions like the Joint Association of Port Transport Unions acknowledged meaningful progress, noting a noticeable reduction in road extortion while expressing appreciation for ongoing efforts to improve officer training.
