Grok AI Blocks Explicit Image Creation After Global Outcry

After facing investigations from governments on three continents, Grok AI has added new protections against the creation of explicit deepfake images.

The xAI chatbot announced Wednesday it will block users from generating images of real people in revealing clothing. Only paid subscribers will have image creation access, and the platform will geoblock explicit content creation in jurisdictions where it's illegal.

The European Commission extended a data retention order, requiring X to preserve all internal documents related to Grok through the end of 2026.
