India's Job Market Hits Record High at 56.1% in 2025

India just closed out 2025 with more people seeking work than at any point in modern records, signaling growing confidence in the country's job market.

The nation's Labour Force Participation Rate climbed to 56.1% in December, the highest since the government began tracking monthly employment data last April. This means more than half of Indians aged 15 and above are now actively looking for jobs or already working.

The surge came almost entirely from rural India, where the participation rate jumped to 59% as people felt confident enough to enter the workforce. Rural men led the charge with nearly 80% seeking employment, while rural women hit a milestone of their own at 40.1%.
