In a bold move to transform electricity access, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved a landmark investment aimed at alleviating power challenges for residents across the region.

The state government will procure and install a 15MVA power transformer, representing a ₦650 million commitment to improving critical infrastructure and enhancing citizens' quality of life.

Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, revealed the strategic intervention during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, emphasizing that while power distribution traditionally falls under Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), the state government is taking proactive steps to address persistent electricity shortages.

Despite KAEDCO's statutory responsibilities, Kebbi State is providing an additional ₦150 million monthly to strengthen service delivery and ensure more stable electricity supply. This unprecedented financial support underscores the government's dedication to addressing community infrastructure needs.

Governor Idris's administration is not just investing funds but also encouraging community participation. Tafida urged residents to support these efforts by promptly paying electricity bills, highlighting that improved revenue collection is crucial for sustaining enhanced power infrastructure.
