The most notable change is the retirement of the beloved Kia Soul, the iconic boxy SUV famous for its dancing hamster commercials. While fans might mourn the Soul's departure, Kia assures consumers that even more exciting vehicles are on the horizon, with particular emphasis on its expanding electric and hybrid offerings.

At the forefront of Kia's 2026 strategy is the EV3, an all-electric crossover SUV that has already proven immensely popular in Europe and South Korea. Russel Wager, Kia America's marketing leader, confirmed the EV3's planned US launch in 2026, despite recent policy challenges that have complicated the electric vehicle market.

The 2026 lineup will showcase remarkable diversity, featuring the new Sportage with gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and an updated Sorento offering three-row seating configurations. With the Soul's retirement, the Seltos will become Kia's most affordable SUV, maintaining most of its current characteristics with a new LX FWD trim.

Kia's existing electric SUVs, the EV6 and EV9, will receive subtle updates. The EV6 benefits from a significant 2025 refresh, including extended driving range, design improvements, and compatibility with Tesla Superchargers via a new NACS port. The EV9 introduces a dramatic Nightfall edition with blacked-out interior and exterior elements.

Interestingly, some anticipated models have been delayed. The previously expected EV4 electric sedan will not launch in early 2026, and the EV9's sporty GT variant has been postponed.
