Nigeria Rescues 3 Kidnapped Christians, Busts Gun Ring

Three Christians traveling to celebrate a wedding are back with their families today after Nigerian security forces rescued them from kidnappers and dismantled a weapons smuggling operation in the process.

Pastors Idi Buhari and Emmanuel Jacob, along with church member Suleiman Adamu, were abducted on January 9th while driving through Kaduna State to officiate a wedding ceremony in neighboring Niger State. Security Service operatives tracked them to a forest hideout and brought them home safely.

"This intervention has brought tremendous relief to the church, their families and the Christian community at large," said John Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria across 19 northern states. The rescue came during a larger security sweep that revealed something even bigger.

The same operation led agents to arrest three suspects running guns and ammunition along a corridor stretching through four states. Investigators discovered the trafficking ring was moving weapons through rural motor parks and back roads to dodge checkpoints.

One suspect, identified as Kwalo, told investigators he received packages at Tegina Motor Park in Niger State before passing them through a chain of couriers. The ammunition eventually reached Katsina State, traveling routes specifically chosen to avoid detection. Kwalo claimed he thought he was transporting tantalite, a valuable mineral, hidden in sacks of millet.

The couriers were paid between 5,000 and 50,000 naira for their roles in the network. Security officials traced the operation across the Kwara, Niger, Katsina, and Kaduna corridor.

This coordinated rescue shows what becomes possible when security forces work together across state lines. Criminal networks thrive when communities and agencies operate in isolation, but collapse under coordinated pressure.

Kaduna's Commissioner for Internal Security praised the operation as a major step toward dismantling cross-border criminal operations. State officials are now urging residents to report suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation makes these successes possible.
