Nigeria to Train 1.1M Youth in Tech and EV Skills for Free

Over a million young Nigerians are about to get free access to skills that could transform their futures.

The Nigeria Youth in Parliament Forum announced plans to train 1.1 million youth in information and communications technology and electric vehicle maintenance at zero cost to participants. The Take Action Campaign launched this week in Abuja with a clear mission: prepare young people for jobs that actually exist in today's economy.

Director-General Tony Nwulu called the timing critical. Nigeria's youth population is growing rapidly while the global economy is shifting toward digital and green technologies, making large-scale skills training more urgent than ever.

The program tackles two fast-growing sectors with serious job potential. The ICT track covers cybersecurity, data protection, data analytics, cloud computing, and other digital skills that employers around the world are actively hiring for right now.

The electric vehicle component teaches technical maintenance and repair. As EV adoption accelerates globally and begins reaching Africa, these skills position young Nigerians at the front of an emerging industry rather than playing catch-up later.

The initiative is designed to reach every corner of the country. Regional balance is built into the program structure to ensure no state or zone gets left behind, with state governments being asked to help mobilize participants through youth affairs ministries.
