PenAir Credit Union Opens $280K Scholarship Program

A Gulf Coast credit union is giving local high school seniors a powerful boost toward their dreams.

PenAir Credit Union opened applications this month for its 2026 scholarship program, welcoming graduating seniors who plan to attend college, community college, technical school, or vocational programs. Over the past 16 years, the program has invested more than $280,000 in nearly 110 students across Alabama's Gulf Coast.

The scholarships do more than ease the financial burden of tuition. They represent a vote of confidence in young people charting their futures.

"Receiving the PenAir scholarship was more than financial support. It was a vote of confidence in my future," said Mallory Bell-Rivera, now a fourth-year student at the University of West Florida. "The encouragement and resources I received helped me focus on my studies and give back to my community."

Casey Brueske, community education manager at PenAir, says the program reflects the credit union's commitment to building stronger communities. "Every year, we see the incredible potential of our youth, and we're honored to help them take the next step toward their dreams," she said.

To qualify, students must be PenAir members, have acceptance to an accredited school, and show academic achievement and community involvement. The application process runs through March 25, with winners announced in early May.
