Saudi Arabia Pledges $500M for Yemen Hospitals and Schools

Saudi Arabia is investing half a billion dollars in development projects across 10 provinces in Yemen, bringing new hospitals, schools, and critical infrastructure to communities that desperately need them.

The projects, announced by Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman, include building healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and roads throughout southern Yemen. The kingdom is also donating fuel to increase power production in areas that have faced electricity shortages.

The development package represents a significant commitment to Yemen's rebuilding efforts. Construction will begin on new mosques, including one on the strategic island of Socotra, alongside infrastructure that will serve daily life for thousands of families.

Saudi officials framed the investment as supporting "security and stability" while "building a better future for Yemen and its brotherly people." The announcement came during meetings with Yemen's internationally recognized government and Presidential Leadership Council members.

Yemen has faced years of conflict and humanitarian challenges, making infrastructure development critically needed. These projects could provide essential services to communities that have lacked access to reliable healthcare, education, and power.
