The celebration began in September when George West Primary was selected as a recipient of the inaugural Lone Star Blue Ribbon Award, a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement and success in closing achievement gaps. This recognition is particularly meaningful for the campus, which has now earned Blue Ribbon status four times, demonstrating a sustained commitment to educational excellence that spans years.

November brought even more exciting news when the Texas Academic Accountability ratings were announced. The results were nothing short of exceptional: all four campuses achieved A ratings, with George West Primary leading the way with an impressive 95%. George West Elementary earned a 91%, Junior High scored 92%, and the High School received a 90%. The district's overall rating of 91% placed them among the top three schools in the entire region. The district's success extended beyond academics. A $500,000 Community Oriented Policing Services grant will transform campus security across all facilities. This substantial investment will modernize security camera systems with cloud-based technology and update entry points to ensure every visitor is properly approved before accessing campus. In August, teachers who earned Recognized, Exemplary, and Master designations through the Teacher Incentive Allotment program received bonus checks totaling $395,561. Even better, the district expects to designate additional teachers in the coming school year, expanding the circle of recognized excellence.

Together, they mapped out priorities for academics, parent engagement, facilities, operations, safety, staffing, and wellness. Dr. Roland Quesada, the district's superintendent, has every reason to celebrate these achievements. The district earned more than 22 academic distinctions for exceptional achievement across reading, mathematics, science, social studies, academic growth, closing achievement gaps, and postsecondary readiness.
