An exciting collaboration is bringing new hope and concrete support to Thailand's small and medium-sized enterprises, the vital heartbeat of the nation's economy.

The National Innovation Agency (NIA) has launched an inspiring partnership with the Thailand Productivity Institute and Tris Corp Ltd to help SMEs harness the power of innovation and emerge as stronger, smarter competitors on the global stage. The initiative, called "INNOProductivity for SMEs," represents a comprehensive commitment to elevating Thailand's business landscape.

"We're witnessing a remarkable transformation," says Krithpaka Boonfueng, executive director of the NIA. "Thai SMEs have tremendous potential, and we're providing them with the tools and knowledge to evolve into robust mid-sized enterprises with world-class management systems."

The program takes a thoughtful, personalized approach to business development. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, the partnership provides tailored innovation management systems designed to fit each business's unique context, size, and potential. This customized strategy aims for tangible outcomes including increased revenue, reduced costs, and enhanced long-term competitiveness.

The assessment process acts as an empowering mirror, helping business owners see their strengths, identify opportunities, and chart clear paths forward. It's a data-driven approach that meets entrepreneurs where they are and guides them toward where they want to be.

Already, the results are encouraging. Over 200 organizations have received training nationwide, with 41 businesses benefiting from specialized expert consultancy. The program is helping SMEs transition from intuition-based decision-making to strategic, data-driven management practices that position them for sustainable growth.

Several companies are already shining as success stories. Devdee Thailand Co Ltd, Codefin Co Ltd, and Biomed Innovation Co Ltd have achieved outstanding innovation management scores above 3.00, earning NIA certificates recognizing their readiness and commitment to sustainable innovation.

The program emphasizes two crucial foundations: management transformation and a productivity mindset. Before diving into advanced technologies like automation and artificial intelligence, businesses are guided to strengthen their fundamental processes, ensuring they're building on solid ground.

Looking ahead, the NIA plans to expand the program this year to reach 2,000 SMEs. The certification will also serve as a valuable tool helping small businesses access low-interest loans, opening new doors for growth and investment.

Surachet Polwanich, president of FTPI, notes the encouraging shift happening across Thailand's business landscape. "SMEs are becoming more agile and data-savvy," he observes. "A new generation of entrepreneurs is emerging—intelligent, willing to take calculated risks, and ready to embrace positive change."

The initiative recognizes that artificial intelligence and modern technology aren't threats to be feared but powerful allies that can help small businesses compete more effectively. By providing the right training and support systems, Thailand is ensuring its SMEs can synthesize information, simulate scenarios, and reduce risks before implementation.
