10 Nations Unite to Build Europe Defense Shield

Ten nations announced Monday they're pooling their expertise to build a shared anti-ballistic missile defense system for Europe, marking one of the continent's largest cooperative defense initiatives in recent years.

The coalition includes Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. Together, they're combining research capabilities, manufacturing know-how, and field experience to create what they call a "purely defensive" protection system.

"By bringing together our defense industrial base, our research, and our operational experience, we aim to build a shared anti-ballistic missile capacity for Europe," the joint declaration stated. The partnership emphasizes that the effort protects European citizens rather than threatening any population.

The announcement came during a meeting of more than 20 allied nations in Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also signed agreements for technology cooperation, including licensed production of defense systems.
