114 Youth From 33 Nations Tour Saudi Arabia's Holy Sites

Over 114 young people from 33 countries gathered in Saudi Arabia for an experience that mixed faith, culture, and hope for the future.

The 11th Holy Sites Journey Program wrapped up in Jeddah after 10 days of exploration across Makkah, Madinah, and the coastal city. Organized by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sport alongside the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and League of Arab States, the program gave participants a firsthand look at how the Kingdom serves millions of pilgrims each year.

The young visitors performed Umrah and toured the sacred mosques, witnessing the massive expansion projects that now accommodate record numbers of worshippers. They also explored historical landmarks, visited cutting-edge sports facilities, and saw urban development projects transforming Saudi cities.

Ahmed Al-Ghamlas from the Ministry of Sport told participants they're now ambassadors who can share what they learned about pilgrim services with their home communities. The goal reaches beyond tourism: strengthening bonds between young people across the Islamic world and showcasing how the Kingdom balances heritage with progress.

Bilal Jabiro, leading Syria's youth delegation, said he treasured every moment. "We sincerely thank Saudi Arabia for giving us this opportunity to strengthen our ties with youth from other Islamic nations," he told Arab News.

Youssef Issa Al-Sharifi from Algeria called participation "an opportunity for every Arab Muslim." Hussain Saeed from Oman said seeing the expansion of the Two Holy Mosques left him inspired and educated.

Syrian influencer Azam Al-Khaldi documented the entire journey for his followers, describing it as an amazing blend of worship, knowledge, and history.

The Ripple Effect

These 114 young people return home carrying more than memories. They've seen how investment in infrastructure and services can honor faith while embracing the future. As they share their experiences with peers, families, and communities, they plant seeds of understanding between cultures.

Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation praised the program as a step toward cultural dialogue among Islamic youth. When young leaders connect across borders, they build the foundation for cooperation that can last generations.
