124 Volunteers Plant 80 Trees in Mexican Urban Forest

One hundred twenty-four volunteers picked up shovels in Torreón, Mexico this month to give their city a greener future, one tree at a time.

Club Santos Laguna's youth soccer academy led the charge through their Warriors of the Heart program, partnering with Fundación Lala and the Municipal Directorate of the Environment. Together, they planted nearly 80 trees at Torreón's Urban Forest, transforming a volunteer day into a powerful lesson about community responsibility.

The young athletes traded their cleats for gardening gloves, working alongside club staff, foundation representatives, and local environmental officials. Omar Tapia, Director of the Youth Academy, emphasized how the initiative builds character beyond the playing field, fostering values like responsibility, solidarity, and teamwork in the next generation.

Municipal Environment Director Marcelo Sánchez Adame and Urban Forest Manager Jesús Carranza joined the effort, highlighting the growing partnership between sports organizations and environmental agencies in the Comarca Lagunera region.
