13 New Advocates Join Fight for Foster Kids in Texas
Lone Star CASA just welcomed 13 new trained volunteers who will now speak up for abused and neglected children in Texas courtrooms. The growing volunteer force helped 27% more kids in 2025 than the year before.
Thirteen more children in foster care now have someone in their corner, thanks to new volunteers who just took an oath to be their voice.
Lone Star CASA swore in 13 new advocates during two ceremonies at Rockwall County Courthouse in March and April. Judge Brett Hall officially welcomed the volunteers who completed 30 hours of specialized training to support children who've experienced abuse and neglect in Kaufman and Rockwall counties.
These volunteers don't just show up for court dates. They get to know the kids they serve, meeting with them regularly and working alongside families, caregivers, teachers and social workers to make sure each child's needs stay front and center throughout the legal process.
The training prepares volunteers for real challenges. They learn about child advocacy, how the foster care system works and what happens in the courtroom. Every volunteer must be at least 21, pass background checks and commit to staying with a child through their entire case.

The Ripple Effect
The numbers show why this matters so much. In 2025, Lone Star CASA volunteers advocated for 272 children compared to 214 in 2024. That's 58 more kids who had a consistent adult fighting for their best interests, a 27% jump in just one year.
The ceremonies also welcomed volunteers' family members as "Helping Hearts." These supporters complete training too, providing backup throughout the often emotional advocacy journey. When volunteers face tough days, their Helping Hearts help them stay strong for the children counting on them.
Each volunteer becomes something many foster children rarely have: a stable presence. While caseworkers change and placements shift, CASA volunteers remain the one constant voice making sure a child's story gets heard and their needs don't get lost in the system.
The growing need for advocates shows no signs of slowing. As more children enter the foster care system in these two Texas counties, Lone Star CASA continues calling on community members to step up and make a difference in a child's life when they need it most.
