Tierney Patton and Donald Applegate thought their wedding reception was taking an odd turn when Tierney's mother Shannon suddenly began dancing solo to ABBA's "Dancing Queen." Within seconds, their confusion transformed into pure joy as every single guest at their March 28 celebration in Raleigh, North Carolina, joined the choreographed flash mob.

The couple had no idea that Shannon had been secretly plotting this surprise for a month. She created a full dance tutorial video, posted it on YouTube, and texted the link to all 160 guests with instructions to practice at home.

"I was screaming each time a different group stood up and joined!" Tierney tells reporters. The tables rose one by one, each group joining the dance floor in perfect timing until the entire room was moving together.

Donald admits he tried to help his mother-in-law during what seemed like an "awkward way to open up the dance floor." Tierney's brother had to physically block them from joining, throwing out his arm to keep the surprise alive.

The song choice carried deep meaning for the bride. Mamma Mia! is Tierney's favorite movie, and she grew up dancing to "Dancing Queen" with friends and family. As a child, she and her best friend would dance around a dining room table for hours with a mini disco ball and ABBA playing on repeat.
