18-Time Paralympic Champion Jessica Long Welcomes Twins

Jessica Long has spent two decades dominating the pool as one of the greatest Paralympic swimmers of all time, and now she's taking on her most rewarding challenge yet: motherhood times two.

The 18-time Paralympic gold medalist and her husband Lucas Winters welcomed twin boys, Lyle Fyodor and Rhodes Lev, on August 10th. The couple shared the joyful news on Instagram, introducing their sons to a world that has watched Long make history since she was just 12 years old.

Long's journey to this moment is nothing short of extraordinary. Born with fibular hemimelia, she had both legs amputated below the knees at 18 months old. That didn't slow her down one bit.

She made her Paralympic debut at age 12 in Athens in 2004, immediately winning three gold medals. Over six Paralympic Games spanning two decades, she collected 31 total medals, making her the third-most decorated Paralympian ever behind only Trischa Zorn and Heinz Frei.

Long, now 34, met Winters through mutual friends in 2015. Winters, a former soccer player who now coaches at Loyola Blakefield in Maryland, has been her biggest supporter both in and out of the pool. The couple married in 2020 and will celebrate their sixth anniversary in October.

The twins join the family alongside the couple's dog, Goose, instantly doubling the household size. Long announced her pregnancy in April after discovering the news back in December.
