21-Year-Old NASCAR Champ Jesse Love Goes All In for 2026

Jesse Love stood alone against a three-team powerhouse last fall at Phoenix Raceway, and the 21-year-old California native didn't blink. He drove his way to his first NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship, joining the record books alongside racing legends.

Now comes the hard part: doing it all over again with higher stakes. Love begins defending his title this Saturday at Daytona International Speedway, returning as both reigning champion and the track's defending race winner.

Most young champions would coast on confidence for a while. Love is sprinting in the opposite direction, pushing himself and his Richard Childress Racing team to improve everywhere they fell short last season.

"I stressed to my team this winter that it's going to take more effort than last year," said crew chief Danny Stockman. The duo admits their 2025 championship season wasn't perfect, despite Love's "ridiculously consistent" performance that delivered 22 top-10 finishes.

Love has set an ultimatum that most drivers his age wouldn't dare. If he's not in a Cup Series car by 2027, he's done with NASCAR's second tier entirely, possibly heading to sprint-car racing instead.

"I don't plan on running a fourth year," Love said bluntly. "I don't plan on doing anything else in 2027 but getting into a Cup car full-time."
