277 Dogs Break World Record at Florida Pool Party
A pet supply company just broke the Guinness World Record for largest dog pool party with 277 canine guests. All the pools and toys from the event are now going to Florida shelters.
Last weekend, 277 dogs splashed their way into the record books at a Florida pool party designed to do more than just make waves.
Chewy hosted the record-breaking event at their Bark Park in Coral Gables on May 9. Dogs of all sizes took turns cooling off in pop-up pools while their owners enjoyed summer games, treat tastings, and photo opportunities.
The company designed the gathering as a safe way to kick off summer while helping pets beat the Florida heat. A claw machine filled with dog toys and dog-safe pupsicles rounded out the festivities.
But the party wasn't just about breaking records. Miami-Dade Animal Services brought adoptable dogs to the event, giving shelter pups a chance to mingle with potential families.
The Miami Fire Department offered CPR training demonstrations specifically for dogs. Chewy Vet Care staff also provided information on keeping pets safe during hot summer months.

"We absolutely loved the Chewy pool party last weekend," attendee Michelle Arean said. "They truly thought of everything. It felt like being at a luxury resort poolside cabana just for the pups."
The Ripple Effect
The joy didn't end when the pools dried. Chewy is donating all the pop-up pools and summer toys from the event to Florida shelters and rescue organizations.
Lisa-Marie Curti, Chewy's head of brand activations, explained the company's mission extends beyond single events. "By donating toys and pools from the event to local shelters, we're helping more pets experience comfort, enrichment, and moments of joy while they wait for their forever homes."
The donations will provide enrichment activities for shelter dogs throughout the summer. These items help dogs stay active and engaged during their time in shelters, which can improve their overall wellbeing and adoptability.
Chewy is also offering 10 pet parents who couldn't attend a chance to win their own pool and summer toy prize pack through an Instagram contest.
The event proved that sometimes the best way to make a difference is to gather together, have fun, and share the joy with those who need it most.
