30 Madera Students Get Laptops Through $20K AT&T Grant

Thirty students from Madera Unified School District walked away from their achievement celebration with more than certificates and applause. They each received laptops, a game-changing tool to help turn their college dreams into reality.

United Way Fresno and Madera made this possible through a $20,000 grant from AT&T. The grant specifically honors students who've shown outstanding academic achievement and serious commitment to pursuing higher education.

The timing couldn't be better. Many families struggle to afford the technology their students need for homework, college applications, and online learning. These laptops remove a major barrier standing between talented students and their educational goals.

"We are grateful for this grant, which allows us to ease the burden on families, uplift our students, and bring postsecondary goals within reach," said Elia Medina, MUSD Director of Community Services and Parent Resource Centers. His words capture what this gift really means: not just a device, but a doorway to opportunity.

The Ripple Effect

When students get the tools they need to succeed, entire communities benefit. These 30 laptops represent 30 students who can complete assignments on time, research colleges, fill out scholarships, and stay connected to their education.
