4 Nigerian Startups Join Google's Elite Africa Program

Out of nearly 2,600 applications from across Africa, four Nigerian startups just earned their place in one of the world's most competitive tech programs.

Bani, MasteryHive AI, Regxta, and Termii will join 11 other African companies in Google for Startups Accelerator Africa's 10th cohort. With an acceptance rate below 1%, their selection showcases the exceptional innovation emerging from Nigeria's technology scene.

Each startup brings artificial intelligence solutions to problems that affect millions of Africans daily. Bani eliminates the frustrating payment delays that slow down cross-border trade for African businesses. MasteryHive AI automates the detection of financial fraud and money laundering, protecting customers and institutions alike.

Regxta is opening doors for micro businesses that traditional banks ignore, using alternative data to assess creditworthiness and a hybrid digital-agent model to reach them. Termii ensures that critical financial messages like login codes and fraud alerts actually reach customers when they need them most.

"At Termii, we're building AI-powered infrastructure that ensures financial transactions don't fail, from login PINs to payment OTPs and fraud alerts," said CEO Gbolade Emmanuel. "Even in the first week, access to technical support and insights has been incredibly valuable for our next phase of growth."

The hybrid program runs from April to June 2026, offering dedicated mentorship, technical workshops, and connections to Google's global network. The startups will receive hands-on guidance specifically focused on scaling their AI and machine learning capabilities.

The Ripple Effect

This cohort's success reflects a broader trend of African innovation gaining global recognition. Since 2018, Google's Africa accelerator has supported 106 startups from 17 countries, which collectively raised over $263 million and created more than 2,800 jobs.

"African startups are driving essential economic growth and social development," said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem for Google Africa. "Our role is to serve as a supportive partner, providing these developers and founders with the technical infrastructure, mentorship, and global network they need to scale their solutions."

Africa's tech ecosystem raised $3.9 billion in 2025, demonstrating investor confidence in the continent's digital future. Programs like this accelerator provide the specialized support that transforms promising ideas into sustainable businesses serving millions.

These four Nigerian companies aren't just building apps. They're constructing the digital infrastructure that will power Africa's economy for decades to come.
