50 Students Earn AP Scholar Awards at Massachusetts School

When 50 students at one high school earn national recognition for academic excellence, it's a sign something special is happening in those classrooms.

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School in Massachusetts just celebrated half a hundred students who earned College Board AP Scholar Awards. These students took on college-level courses while still in high school and scored qualifying grades on multiple Advanced Placement exams.

The awards come in three levels based on how many exams students passed and their average scores. Twenty-four students earned AP Scholar recognition for scoring 3 or higher on at least three exams. Seventeen students reached AP Scholar with Honor status by maintaining at least a 3.25 average across four or more exams. Nine students achieved the highest level, AP Scholar with Distinction, by averaging 3.5 or higher on five or more exams.

Principal Dustin Demers said the achievement showcases both student dedication and teacher excellence. "These students have distinguished themselves by choosing to take on some of the most rigorous academic opportunities we offer and then excelling at the highest level," he said.

The accomplishment fits into the district's larger vision called DRiving Toward 2030, a strategic plan focused on student curiosity and future readiness. Superintendent Bill Runey called it "another powerful example of the student achievement we are seeing at DRRHS."

The Ripple Effect

The success of these 50 students creates positive momentum for the entire school community. When classmates see their peers tackling challenging courses and succeeding, it inspires others to push their own boundaries.

The AP program sits alongside other opportunities at the school, including Early College programs where students can earn college credits and Career & Technical Education pathways. School officials emphasized that having multiple options helps ensure every student finds their path to success.

Teachers play a crucial role in making these achievements possible. The district thanked educators who "challenge, support, and inspire our students every day," recognizing that student success starts with excellent instruction and encouragement.
