5,000 Families Get Ramadan Food Packs in Nigeria

Thousands of families in central Nigeria received a boost of hope this week as 5,000 households got food packages to help them through the holy month of Ramadan.

Femi Oyetola organized the distribution through his Ilerioluwa Development Initiative, targeting vulnerable people across 10 local government areas in Osun Central Senatorial District. Each package contained rice, beans, garri, and beverages to sustain families through the daily fasting period.

The initiative focused on reaching those who need it most. Widows, widowers, elderly residents, and people with disabilities received priority in the distribution process.

This marks the second major food distribution in recent months. Oyetola ran a similar program in December 2025, providing holiday packages to 5,000 households to help them celebrate Christmas and New Year.

"This is just a hand of love extended to the vulnerable," Oyetola said through his representative. He explained that the packages aim to reduce the financial pressure families face during Ramadan, when many struggle to afford both pre-dawn and evening meals while fasting.

The distribution represents more than immediate hunger relief. By enabling families to participate fully in Ramadan, the initiative helps preserve the spiritual and communal aspects of the holy month that might otherwise be overshadowed by economic stress.
