50,000 Ghanaians Now Have Clean Water at Their Doorsteps
More than 50,000 people in Ghana's Eastern and Ahafo regions are waking up to clean water flowing close to home, ending dangerous daily treks to distant, unsafe sources. A partnership between World Vision Ghana and Polytank Ghana Limited is transforming lives one water tank at a time.
For thousands of families in rural Ghana, the morning routine no longer includes a long, exhausting walk to collect water that might make them sick.
More than 50,000 people across Ghana's Eastern and Ahafo regions now have access to safe, reliable water right in their communities. Many households have been connected directly to clean water systems, eliminating trips to contaminated sources.
The transformation came through a partnership between World Vision Ghana and Polytank Ghana Limited, which supplied 26 high-capacity water tanks as part of their commitment to underserved communities. These tanks helped build, repair, and expand water systems across 26 communities in the Asutifi North and Asunafo North districts.
In Fanteakwa's six communities, emergency water interventions reached more than 5,000 residents who previously had no reliable access to clean water. The change happened quickly, bringing immediate relief to families who had spent hours each day searching for safe water.

The Ripple Effect
The clean water is changing more than just daily routines. Parents and teachers report that children are attending school more regularly and concentrating better in class, freed from the burden of water collection and waterborne illnesses.
Thirty basic schools serving over 12,000 students now have dependable water systems. At Akorsakrom Basic School, an old hand pump got a complete upgrade to a solar-powered system with campus standpipes, ensuring clean water flows throughout the school day.
Eight health clinics and centers also received reliable water supplies, strengthening infection prevention and improving maternal and child health services. Clean water means better hygiene practices and safer medical care for entire communities.
World Vision Ghana says this project proves what's possible when development organizations and private companies work together on basic needs. When communities have clean water, everything else gets better: health improves, kids learn more, and families can focus on building better futures instead of surviving day to day.
