7 North Texas Cities Make America's Top Boomtown List

North Texas is booming, and the numbers prove it. Seven cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area just earned spots on SmartAsset's list of America's fastest-growing boomtowns, reflecting years of explosive economic growth and opportunity.

Lewisville claimed the highest ranking among local cities at No. 5 nationwide. The city added 24% more housing units and grew its workforce by 23% between 2019 and 2024, while its economy expanded at nearly 7% each year.

McKinney, Frisco, and Denton weren't far behind, landing at spots 8, 10, and 11 respectively. McKinney's workforce jumped 25%, while Frisco matched that same growth rate as thousands of families chose to call these communities home.

Allen ranked 19th nationally with steady gains across housing and jobs. Mansfield posted some of the region's most impressive numbers at No. 36, adding 35% more housing and growing its workforce by 34%.

Even Fort Worth, the region's largest city, made the list at No. 73. The city added 15% more housing units and 13% more workers while maintaining solid economic growth.

The study analyzed 500 of America's largest cities, measuring housing growth, workforce expansion, and economic output. Cities needed to show sustained progress across all three areas to make the cut.

The Ripple Effect

This growth means more than just statistics. Thousands of new jobs have opened up across industries, from technology to healthcare to education. New neighborhoods are giving families affordable options close to quality schools and amenities.

The expansion has also attracted major employers to the region. Companies are choosing North Texas because of its talented workforce, reasonable cost of living, and business-friendly environment, creating a positive cycle of opportunity.

Texas dominated the national rankings overall. Georgetown grabbed the top spot, followed by New Braunfels at No. 2 and Leander at No. 4, showing how the entire state is becoming a magnet for growth.

Earlier this year, Census data revealed that four of America's eight fastest-growing cities are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The momentum shows no signs of slowing as more people discover what makes North Texas special.
