The head coach at Row West, an indoor rowing studio in West Seattle's Junction neighborhood, shattered two world records last weekend during qualifying rounds for the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Championships. She didn't just edge past the old marks—she destroyed them.

Competing in the Lightweight Women 75-79 age category, Gehrke crushed the 1-minute rowing distance record by rowing 280 meters. The previous record of 262 meters was set just last year, and Gehrke surpassed it by 18 meters.

Her second record might be even more impressive. She completed 1000 meters in just 4 minutes and 5.5 seconds, breaking a record that had stood since 2014.
