800 Teens Crash Florida Beach Wedding, Cheer for the Couple

Dawn Moore was minutes from walking down the aisle when her sister burst in with news: hundreds of teenagers had taken over their wedding beach.

It was March 27 in Jacksonville, Florida, and Moore was set to marry Zack Stover at a beachfront hotel. About 800 to 900 high school seniors had chosen the same beach for their unofficial skip day celebration, creating such a scene that police arrived and made several arrests.

A police officer suggested the couple move their ceremony a mile down the beach. Moore, already in her tight wedding dress and barefoot, knew that wasn't happening.

"There's no way that we can do that," she told local news station News4Jax. So the couple decided to stick with their original plan and walked out to meet their unexpected audience.

The moment Moore stepped onto the sand with her bridesmaids, the entire crowd erupted in cheers and applause. Video footage captured on TikTok shows the joyful chaos as the bride approached, then something remarkable: complete silence fell over the beach during the vows.

"They got quiet and they were really respectful," Moore said. "It turned out to be really good."

The couple had invited 140 guests, but their actual headcount reached somewhere between 800 and 900 people. For many of the teens, it was the first wedding they'd ever attended.
