9 Heroes Box In Kidnapper, Save Arizona Toddler

A QuikTrip security guard and a team of movers became unlikely heroes when they joined forces to rescue a kidnapped toddler in Phoenix last weekend.

Marina Noriega, 23, allegedly took a 2-year-old girl from an Avondale home Friday night, sparking an Amber Alert that would soon reach thousands of Arizona residents. By Sunday morning, the alert had made its way to the right people at exactly the right time.

Skyler Emmons, a security guard at a QuikTrip near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road, recognized the toddler and suspect from the alert. Rather than approach alone, he spotted a Camelback Moving crew getting coffee and asked for backup.

The eight movers didn't hesitate. Working together, they positioned their trucks to box in Noriega's vehicle while Emmons called 911. The toddler was reunited with her family unharmed.

On Thursday, Avondale Police Chief Memo Espinoza honored all nine good Samaritans with medals and plaques at a special ceremony. The moving company employees received an extra thank you: free coffee for a year and tickets to Spring Training games.
