9 Rescued Equines Find Hope at San Diego Sanctuary

When nine neglected equines needed help in southeast San Diego County, a community came together to give them a fresh start.

Tecate Horse Rescue welcomed the animals at the end of August after volunteers with trucks and trailers stepped up to transport them to safety. The rescue squad included one mini mule, two mini horses, four mini donkeys, and two standard donkeys.

Several of the animals arrived with serious health concerns. Some were dangerously underweight, while others had severe hoof problems from months or years without proper care.

The rescue team got to work immediately, providing the specialized medical attention and nutrition each animal needed. Now, after weeks of recovery, these once-struggling equines are ready for their next chapter.
