When 97-year-old Westel Creager slipped into a crisp white doctor's coat this summer, he wasn't preparing for rounds. He was keeping a promise to his great-granddaughter that spanned her entire medical school journey.

Years ago, Westel told young Haiden Hauret that if she got into medical school, he'd be there when she graduated and received her first white coat. Haiden didn't just make it to medical school. She followed her great-grandfather to his alma mater, the University of Kentucky.
