African Football Legends Unite for Historic Match in Abuja

Kanu announced the news at the African Continental Free Trade Area Festival (ACFTA Fest) in Abuja. "The legends are going to be there, and we'll perform and everybody will enjoy it," he told reporters. "We're involved in this project because we want to promote the culture of Africa and empower the grassroots."

The match represents more than just nostalgia for fans. These former players are using their platform to give back to communities and inspire the next generation of African talent.

Former Cameroonian star Eyong Enoh emphasized the deeper mission behind the event. "The only difference between Cameroon and Nigeria is a line that was drawn colonially," he explained. "I don't see myself just as a Cameroonian. I see myself as an African."

The legends match anchors a three-day festival running March 26-28 that includes startup competitions, cultural celebrations, and business opportunities. By combining sports with economic development, organizers are creating connections that extend far beyond the pitch.

The initiative promotes the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, which aims to boost commerce and cooperation across the continent. "Our motto is one Africa, one market, one future," Enoh said.
