African Youth Innovators Can Win €42,000 Grants in 2026

Young leaders across Africa now have a powerful new way to fund the solutions their communities need most.

The Youth Action Lab Innovation Grants 2026 opens applications in September for youth-led nonprofits ready to make real change happen. Organizations can receive up to €42,000 to implement their projects over 12 months starting January 2027.

The program welcomes ideas at every stage. Groups can apply to test brand new approaches, adapt solutions that worked elsewhere, scale existing programs to reach more people, or improve current initiatives based on community feedback.

Twelve African countries qualify for the grants: Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somaliland region of Somalia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Organizations must be formally registered nonprofits in one of these countries.

The program puts genuine youth leadership first. Young people aged 18 to 35 must hold primary decision-making power and play central roles in how their organizations run and what they do.

Beyond funding, grantees join a network that matters. They gain access to mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and connections with other young leaders, decision-makers, and stakeholders across Africa and Europe.

The Ripple Effect

The grants particularly encourage organizations led by marginalized groups and young women. This creates pathways for voices often left out of development conversations to shape solutions that work for their own communities.

The program also champions intersectional thinking. Applications that consider how unemployment, education access, gender, disability, location, and other factors overlap to affect young people differently will stand out.
