Aiken Newcomers Club Donates $7,500 to Local Charities

Over teacups and three-tiered platters, a group of women in Aiken, South Carolina, celebrated something bigger than friendship. They turned a year of social gatherings into $7,500 for local charities serving their community.

The Aiken Newcomers Club welcomed fresh faces at its annual Spring Tea on April 30, where new members shared stories about their favorite teacups and what drew them to the group. This social club does more than host parties. Throughout the season, members raised thousands through events like their annual March fashion show, which featured styles from Vikki's, a local boutique.

The $7,500 they collected went directly to organizations making Aiken County better. Aiken Equine Rescue, which saves horses in need, received a donation. The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare got funding to continue protecting pets. ACTS, which serves community needs, benefited from their generosity. Aiken County Habitat for Humanity received support to build homes for families.
