Reese became only the third player ever to record a 20-point double-double while shooting 100 percent from the field. The last player to accomplish this feat was Nneka Ogwumike a decade ago, who scored 32 points on perfect shooting in 2016.

The performance was even more impressive given what happened just days earlier. On Sunday, Reese missed two critical late layups in an overtime loss to the Indiana Fever, continuing a difficult stretch where she struggled around the rim in multiple games.

After Thursday's win, Reese explained her mindset: "I was just in the mode. When you see the ball go through the net, you just continue to shoot it." She credited the team's defensive intensity for sparking her offensive rhythm from the opening tip.

The performance also marked Reese's 25th double-double of the season, extending her league lead. With eight games remaining, she needs just four more to break Alyssa Thomas' single-season record of 28 set in 2023.

Reese has made 2026 her breakout year with Atlanta. Earlier this season, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds in only 79 games, shattering Tina Charles' previous mark of 89 games.
