Starting immediately, anyone in Australia, Brazil, and Singapore trying to download an app rated 18+ will need to confirm they're an adult first. The App Store handles this check automatically, making it seamless for users while keeping kids protected.

Brazil is taking an additional step with gaming apps. Games featuring loot boxes, those controversial random reward systems that work like gambling, now automatically get an 18+ rating. Lawmakers argued these mechanics shouldn't target young people, and Apple is helping enforce that protection.

In Utah and Louisiana, new users will soon have their age categories shared with developers through the same secure system. Parents and guardians get notified when apps need permission for significant updates affecting children.
