Arkansas Dance Team Wins First National Championship Ever

A high school dance team from Arkansas just proved that big dreams belong everywhere, not just in states known for competitive dance programs.

Bentonville High School's Golden Tamers dance team made history in Orlando this month by winning the D-1 Large Varsity High Kick National Championship at the Universal Dance Association competition. No dance team from Arkansas had ever claimed a national title before.

Senior Erin Graham said the moment still feels surreal. "We knew it was always a possibility, but never going to nationals... this is my first time," she said. "I was just so excited to make it to finals, and after they announced us as first, I was just overjoyed."

Head coach Megan Walbe captured the team's humble spirit perfectly. "Golly, we're just a humble team from Arkansas," she said. "We are there to compete. But the following has been incredible."

The celebration back home matched the magnitude of their achievement. Students, teachers, families, and people across Arkansas flooded the team with encouragement and congratulations. The school held a special celebration to honor the dancers and their groundbreaking win.
