Arkansas Farmer Donates 2 Acres of Corn to Feed Thousands

A generous Arkansas farmer is making sure thousands of families get fresh vegetables this summer, and the community is invited to help make it happen.

Harvest Regional Food Bank received a two-acre corn donation from a Little River County farmer. Volunteers are needed to pick the corn on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, from 8:00 a.m. until noon each day at the Foreman Rest Stop near the intersection of Highway 32 and Highway 82.

All ages are welcome to help. Organizers ask volunteers to bring a hat and wear closed-toe shoes or boots for the fieldwork.

The corn will go directly to more than 90 food pantries serving a 10-county area. For many families, this donation means access to fresh produce they wouldn't otherwise have.

"Even if you only have an hour or two to help, a little bit of time makes all the difference," said Camille Wrinkle, CEO of Harvest Regional Food Bank. "We would never be able to harvest this much corn if we didn't have a lot of help from the community each year."

The Ripple Effect

This annual corn harvest shows how one farmer's generosity multiplies through community action. A single donation becomes thousands of ears of fresh corn reaching families across the region.

The food bank depends on volunteer power to turn farm donations into meals. Without helping hands in the field, this nutritious produce would never make it to kitchen tables.
