Auburn Tigers Eye Second NCAA Golf Title in Three Years

Auburn University's men's golf team isn't showing up to participate at this year's NCAA Championship. They're coming to win.

The Tigers earned the tournament's No. 1 seed for the third consecutive year and will compete against 29 other programs at the Omni La Costa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California, from May 29 through June 3. Head Coach Nick Clinard made his team's goal crystal clear: "For us and our standards, it's win or bust."

Auburn knows what championship glory feels like. Just two years ago in 2024, the Tigers captured their first-ever national title with dramatic victories over Virginia, Ohio State, and Florida State in match play. Last year's tournament ended in heartbreak when they fell to eventual runner-up Virginia by a single point in the quarterfinals.

This year's lineup features Jackson Koivun, widely considered the best player in college golf. He'll be joined by an All-SEC quartet of Josiah Gilbert, Cayden Pope, Jake Albert, and Logan Reilly. Southern California native Billy Davis rounds out the roster as a substitute option.

The Tigers have already faced 25 of their 29 championship opponents this season and dominated with a 64-15-1 record against them. They've been particularly tough on SEC rivals, going 5-0 against Georgia and 4-0 against Texas A&M.
