Australia Gets 25MW Solar Portfolio with 100MWh Storage

Australia's renewable energy future just got a major boost with five new solar farms ready to break ground across New South Wales.

CleanPeak Energy completed its acquisition of the development sites from Fortitude Renewables, bringing 25MW of solar capacity and 100MWh of battery storage to the grid. Four projects in Ashley, Gunnedah, Dubbo, and Culcairn are ready for construction, with a fifth site in Warialda awaiting final approval.

Each location features a 5MW solar facility paired with battery storage systems, designed to capture sunshine during the day and deliver power when demand peaks. Construction starts in 2026, with all sites expected to be operational by early 2027.

Once running, the portfolio will generate approximately 90,000 megawatt hours annually. That's enough clean electricity to power roughly 15,000 typical Australian homes while avoiding thousands of tons of carbon emissions each year.

"The acquisition of the shovel-ready Fortitude portfolio allows us to move straight into construction, accelerating the delivery of green energy to our contracted customers," said Philip Graham, CEO of CleanPeak Energy. Companies like Harris Farm and NAB have already signed up to receive power from these facilities.

The deal marks CleanPeak's first major move since partnering with KKR, a global investment firm that committed AU$500 million to expand distributed energy resources across Australia. That funding supports rooftop solar, battery storage, and micro-grid solutions for commercial and industrial customers nationwide.

The Ripple Effect

This acquisition represents more than just new power plants. By building solar and storage facilities near where electricity is actually used, CleanPeak reduces transmission losses and speeds up approval processes that often slow renewable projects.

The company's business model removes major barriers for organizations wanting to go green. Clients avoid upfront capital costs and technology risks while still accessing clean energy, making sustainability transitions accessible to businesses of all sizes.

The NSW projects will use advanced bifacial solar panels on tracking systems that follow the sun throughout the day, maximizing energy capture. Liquid-cooled containerized batteries and unified energy management systems ensure reliable power delivery with lower maintenance costs.

CleanPeak has been steadily building its renewable portfolio, having purchased two solar plants totaling 14.5MW in NSW just last October. The company now specializes in developing, building, and operating clean energy infrastructure for major Australian corporations and government agencies seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.

With construction beginning this year, thousands of Australian homes and businesses will soon receive cleaner, more reliable power that helps the country meet its climate commitments while creating local jobs in the renewable energy sector.
