Australia Seeks Community Sports Dad of the Year

Every weekend, countless dads show up early to line soccer fields, organize fundraisers, and drive carloads of kids to games without asking for recognition. Now Australia wants to celebrate these grassroots heroes with a national award that gives back to the communities they serve.

Nominations are open for Australia's Community Sports Dad of the Year, supported by Philips Water and endorsed by former Socceroos goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne. The award recognizes dads and father figures who volunteer their time to keep local sports clubs thriving.

The winning club receives a $5,000 Rebel Sport voucher for new equipment or uniforms. The honored dad gets a Philips water filtration system, and the person who nominates them receives a grooming kit as a thank you for shining a light on community service.

Football NSW announced the competition, inviting families to submit 100-word nominations by August 27, 2026. Whether someone has volunteered for decades or simply shows up whenever help is needed, organizers want to hear their story.
